The Two Rivers Meet Team

Dale and Gayle Brooks

Dale and Gayle have been family friends for at least a hundred years- through thick and thin. They are always doing for others, so you will not find any grass growing under their feet. Gayle is managing registration and Dale is setting up water stations and is helping with the course. They are soon to be first time grandparents, so I am betting this is their last race.

John Turk

John is a man of few words, but he's been behind Stone Soup from day one, every step of the way. Actions speak louder than word, anyhoo. John helps setup the course and picking up the pieces.

Maryan and Les Thimlar

We all need friends like Les and Maryan. The kind that will eagerly jump on board whenever you need a helping hand. Les will help with setting up the course and Maryan helps with registration.

Arleigh Movitz- Designer

In addition to being a fire fighter in California, Arleigh is a talented web and graphic designer. He came up with the Winston the Elk logo. He is an avid hiker and also the proud father of three enormous Maine coon cats that look more like small bears.

Patty Walters

Patty Walters is an independent marketer whose client list includes heavyweights like Intel, eBay, Apple and more. In addition to running her thriving company, WaltersConsulting.com, she is also a master gardener. What started as a hobby for friends, has a grown into a formidable second business in landscape design. She has an eye for color, knows her plants, understands light and puts together great plans for gardens of any size. Patty is an avid walker, rower and hiker.

Donna Gaus - Head cheerleader

Donna has had many interesting careers and they have all turned out amazingly well. She should write books on reinventing yourself. Some of her pasts include; management team at Intuit in Silicon Valley, growing and then managing a million dollar landscaping company, starting a computer store in Wales, starting and running a software company, opening an independent aromatherapy store in Palo Alto before it was a mainstream idea. She then became a Reiki Master, sold everything to live on a sailboat and sail for 2 years, and now has a papaya farm in Ecuador and is starting an organic food coop. She has mastered “letting go” and moving on.

Ross Turk - Registration and accounting

Ross has a finance background, he is a stickler for details which is exactly what you want in a database. Sometimes it is hard for finance people to cope with the chaos of events, but Ross does a fine job.

Josh Stevens - Web Designer, Wingenuity Design

Josh was a full time youth pastor before shifting into his role as a web designer. Wingenuity Design has been great to work with, creative and extremely quick to respond.

Phil Carr - Rock Solid Results - Timing

Phil and his wife are imported from indianapolis where he does timing for Tuxedo Brothers events. Phil is an asset to any team because he has great ideas, knows racing, is calm as a cucumber under pressure and always brings a high level of professionalism to this work. He's a rock solid dude.

Paula Turk

Paula graduated from Adams HS in South Bend and went on to get her marketing degree from IUSB. After college, she headed west to Palo Alto, California worked for Harris Corp in Marketing and later Apple Computer. Years later, she went on to found Main Event Marketing based in Redwood City, CA. Paula has 20 years of experience organizing corporate and private events worldwide.

Paula's found a passion in running about ten years ago. She has run in over a dozen marathons including Boston, New York, San Francisco, Humbolt, Sacramento, Nashville, and Paris. She is also a veteran of a few ultras and the Death Ride in California.

Three years ago, she started training for triathlons and is now a member of the Triple Threat Triathlon group. This year she signed up for her 2nd Ironman in Madison in September. She is also a USAT Certified Race Director.

Wild Thing the Cat Mascot

Wild Thing the Cat MascotA little over a year ago, my neighbor knocked on my door. She had a little one pound piece of fur in her hand which she had found IN HER CAR ENGINE. She had to go to work, could I just feed it for the day and she would deal with it when she got home. Well, long story short, we kept this little ball of fur and she has developed many dog-like features...comes when called, follows us around, plays fetch and is so fearless that she is quite a daily dose of happiness.
