Turkey Stampede 10K run, 5K run or walk and 1 mile
  • 8:30am EST - 10:30am EST, November 28th, 2013
  • The Faith Mission Turkey Stampede presented by Topping Dental Group!

A family event for a family day!  This will be our 5th year for this event, and we are  so grateful that it has retained the same low key atmosphere despite growing in numbers.

WHAT'S NEW?  New location to make it even easier to participate!! North Side Gym, 300 Lawrence Street, Elkhart will be the start and finish location for 2013. Plenty of accessible parking and several entrance points for easy in and out after the event.

This is the largest gym in Indiana, so we can all snuggle inside until the race begins, if it does get cold!

NOTICE: Due to a basketball tournament, packet pick up will be at High Dive Pavilion, 500 East Beardsley Avenue, Wednesday, Nov 27 from 5-7pm.

Put the bird in the oven and come on out for some fresh air before heading back to your preparations.  Do you have a house full of relatives? Great. Load up the car and bring everyone down- we have a distance for everyone and you can meet back up at the end at the refreshment table.

What is so cool about this race is we have a huge range of people - we LITERALLY have world class athletes killing the course as well as grandparents pulling their kids in a wagon...and it's all good!  We like it that way because the whole family can participate at their level.  So if you like to run fast, bring it on down! If you don't, you will have plenty of company. If you hate to get up early, you will be glad you did!

This is very low key, with the idea of just being fun- whatever that means to you. There is no awards ceremony, although we do give out gravy boats to the top three men and women in the 10K and 5K.   Basically, come out- get some air and exercise and head back to your day!

And it all goes for the Faith Mission, which makes perfect sense- especially on Thanksgiving Day!

When and where is packet pick up?

Packet pick up is on on Wednesday, Nov 27 from 5-7pm at High Dive Pavilion (since there is a game going on at North Side Gym on Wednesday event.

High Dive Paviilion is on Beardsley Avenue between Cassopolis and Johnson street, across from Thor Headquarters.

Race Day packet pick up and registration is at North Side Gym, 300 Lawrence Street. Enter the south side of the building.

Why did you change locations?

We loved the venue at McNaughton park but a) were running out of parking and b) we had been really, really lucky with the weather (especially last year) but needed a bigger indoor facility. People want to hang out together in the morning and see their friends and neighbors!  The gym will be perfect, you can sit on the bleachers if you arrive early and get a great view of everyone coming in.

Carpooling is still the way to go- make it a family/neighborhood outing!

Is there enough parking?

North Side Gym is the largest gym in Indiana (or was) and has a ton of parking that has multiple access and exit points so you can get right back home after you are finished! [ PLEASE-  no parking at St. Thomas Church as they hold mass on Thanksgiving morning.]

What else?

There are plenty of indoor restrooms, a sound system inside and out, and plenty of space, so we are ready in the off chance we have cooler weather!   We will have coffee and cocoa in the morning and also some refreshments for after the race!

Not a runner?

We have a lovely walk route planned OR you can always volunteer on the course and cheer others on to victory!  Cris Stahly is our volunteer manager and can be reached at Cris@TheFaithMission.org

Is money tight?

Give Paula a call at 574-293-1683 and we can work something out!
